On August 21 the Optimax Open Charity Golf Tournament took place for the 8th year at the beautiful River Ridge Golf Course.
The ultimate goal with this event is to bring our friends together, and to have a great time. A casual event that is more about our great conversations than the number on your scorecard, we were delighted to hear great feedback, and the promise of attending another round next year.

Our secondary achievement is the funds raised in support of our charity of choice. Including this year, the Optimax Open has raised $34,800 since we started in 2012. Thanks to the generous support of our partners, and donations made by attendees, this year we raised over $5700 through silent auction and raffle items, which has been donated to Intercultural Child and Family Centre.
Intercultural Child and Family Centre is an accredited not for profit child care centre offering a warm and culturally rich environment for children, support for newcomer families and training opportunities for staff. Their contribution enables them to continue building a child care community based on trust, respect and openness, where every member feels valued and heard.
Jazz Heran, Executive Director, addressed attendees following the dinner, noting gratitude for everyone who attended and supported this event and the cause.
Many of the 72 attendees have heard this thank you before, from the charitable organizations that were supported in previous years. Each year, the Opitmax Open welcomes back many of the same people, “we have had some attend for every year… ordinary folks raising money and having fun” Earl Shindruk explains.
We would like to recognize and thank our friends that come year after year, as well as the new faces who have joined for the first time.
River Ridge Golf Course was an amazing host this year. Thank you to the staff and kitchen for the exceptional meal and beautiful golf course. Intercultural Child and Family Centre also ensured the successful flow of the event with volunteers helping throughout the day, and the Bredin Centre generously donated a hole in one sponsorship.
